Economic Development Board

Purpose

The purpose of the Economic Development Board is to encourage diverse business development and expansion. New business development, as well as existing business expansion, is a primary focus for economic development in Buda. This policy addresses issues such as infrastructure improvements and partnership fostering, which will ultimately positively position the City of Buda to recruit new business and help the existing business expand effectively. Established under Local Government Code Sections 501, 504, and 505, the Buda Economic Development Corporation (a Type B corporation) was established in 2001. The Buda Economic Development Corporation's mission is to provide leadership in creating and pursuing balanced economic growth by recruiting and retaining desirable, diverse businesses and developing infrastructure while protecting the quality of life and natural resources in the region. 

Meetings are held monthly on the second Monday of each month, and special meetings are called as needed. Board members are required to sign confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements and serve two-year terms. Per Texas State Law, the Buda City Council is to approve all programs and expenditures of the Buda Economic Development Corporation and annually review any financial statements of the corporation; it is entitled to access all of the Corporation's books and records at all times; (Texas Government Code, Section 501.073) Meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m.
