Matt Smith, At-Large Position 1
The Honorable Matt Smith was elected by the Citizens of Buda in November 2020 and sworn-in to office in December 2020 as Councilmember At-Large Position 1.
Mr. Smith is a Texas native and raised in Manchaca. He is an area resident for over 40 years, and moved to Buda in 2012. Mr. Smith brings his knowledge of financial planning, community organization, and leadership to the City of Buda.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of the City of Buda Citizen’s Academy, former City of Buda Parks & Recreation Commissioner, Chair of the City of Buda Amphitheater Committee, and Member of the Baylor Scott & White Buda Development Advisory Board. When not fulfilling these duties, you will find him mentoring and coaching local youth sports or building new homes with Habitat for Humanity. Formerly, Matt was Co-Chair of the Whispering Hollow HOA-Festival Committee and continues to support local events bringing families together from all around Buda.
Mr. Smith and his wife, Vannessa, chose to start a family and move to Buda because of the strong sense of community, excellent area schools, and an amazing quality of life. After researching communities from Cedar Park to San Marcos, Wimberley to Bastrop, and everywhere in-between, Buda was at the top of the list to raise a family and enjoy life to the fullest. With their two boys, Gavin(8) and Hudson(5), Buda has everything they desire in a community to foster a positive and meaningful life for their family.
Mr. Smith’s vision for managing future growth while preserving Buda’s small-town charm is what Buda businesses and families need most right now.
